This workshop is designed to give the beginning student a solid grounding in the techniques of micro–macrame jewelry. It also serves as a valuable refresher for students with some previous knotting experience who wish to update their skills. In the first half of the class, the students will work on a Bookmark Sampler that contains all of the basic knots done in several varied patterns. All of the knots and techniques that are taught in the sampler are directly applicable to the bracelet project that students will be able to work on in the second half of the class. Instructions will be provided. Kits for the projects can be purchased from the instructor or the student may furnish their own supplies. (see Supply Lists)

The workshop will cover the following subjects:
1. Mastering the fundamental knots including the Square Knot, Horizontal and Vertical Double Half Hitch, Lark’s Head Knot, sennits and loop closures. Knot diagrams will be provided.
2. Basic “Cavandoli” knotting technique
3. Cord: the different types and their properties, measuring, and dying techniques.
4. Incorporating beads and embellishments in your designs.
5. Finishing techniques 6. Lots of tricks and tips from over 20 years of jewelry design.
